New Line of Garden Tools Is Made by a Woman, With Women in Mind

ergonomic garden tools for womenYou probably think “pink” when you hear about tools “designed for women.”

But Patricia Ann Taylor chose blue as the hue for her new line of garden tools. It is her favorite color, after all. And, she, ”A man who wants to use these will feel comfortable with them.”

A man who wants to use these will feel comfortable with them.

Taylor has worked for Wright Tools, a company that had been manufacturing industrial tools in Barberton, Ohio, since the 1960s. When the owner retired seven years ago, she and her husband bought the company. Now Taylor is combining her love for gardening with her knowledge of tools.

The designer first started gardening with her mother. Taylor recalls watching her mom working with antique tools that were unfit for her small hands. That memory helped spark the idea of creating tools that are fit for a petite to average-sized female hand.

The Patricia Ann Tools line includes a trowel, hybrid soil knife, cultivator, weeder, pruner, hat and tool organizer. The tool set and hat retails for $89.95, while the tool organizer is listed at $29.95.

Ergonomically designed, an indentation on the tools’ handles serves as a resting spot for a thumb. Their stainless steel construction and a high-polished finish mean these tools are both sturdy and attractive.

There’s a new Home Depot on the corner and they’re having a huge sale on garden plants, tools and furniture.
My son came by. I have custody this weekend. We decided to journey down to the Depot and buy seedlings to supplement the ones we started inside from seed with Miracle Grow soil in egg cartons.
Just as my luck would have it, and my son’s, all the regular shopping carts were claimed. Christopher and I had to settle for the huge one, designed like a race car. Christopher just loved the fact that I had to push him around like a child in a shopping cart
