Garcia Rock And Water Design Blog

waterfall into pondHouzz is a great website to find ideas for your home and garden.

When thinking about installing a koi pond, research as much as possible before you begin and definitely look at pictures of what others have had built.
Here are a couple of examples of what I have created for others:

When planning the initial phase of a pond with a waterfall, one should view the potential site from different vantage points. Where will people be enjoying the waterfall? Would it be visible from the kitchen, living room or dining room window? How about from a patio or deck?

Before installing a pond, it is important to determine a style that fits well into the existing and surrounding environment.

If your site does not have an existing style, you can choose a theme to suit your taste. There are a variety of landscape options to choose from such, as tropical, desert, xeriscape, woodland, formal, modern/contemporary, informal or naturalistic. Landscapes can also be made to resemble various styles of gardens like Italian, Japanese or English just to name a few.

Fish pond construction in Santa Barbara is a unique niche in the landscape and pool construction industry.

Santa Barbara Waterfalls

When hiking in the foothills of Santa Barbara you may happen to find waterfalls. Waterfalls in Santa Barbara are plentiful, after a good rainy season. They aren’t quite as dramatic or grand as Niagara in New York or Angel Falls in Venezuela but they can be just as beautiful, too the eye of the beholder.Lots of room for koi fish nd just about everywhere here in town. It varies a bit in hue and quite a bit in density from site to site. Some stone is great for use in building waterscapes, while some stone practically disintegrates when you touch it. Many people own property where you can hardly stick a shovel into the ground without hitting a stone. Many people pay to have excavated stone hauled away, only to be sold later by those who have been paid to take it away. Quarried sandstone rock is quite the hot commodity here.

Garden Design VS Landscape Design

Garden designers often charge by the hour - if you want a landscape designer that is different - landscape designers usually have a formula and they either do not charge for the design (they are also the installers) or charge a minimal fee. They make their money on the install and the maintenance contracts. Garden designers are artists, they are creating a one of a kind work for your partiicular space based on an initial consultation with you (a paid consult but usually credited with a contract for design). Prices range from $75 per hour to upwards of $125 per hr. They come out and take pictures and measurements of the space, do a site plan to scale; you are also getting use of their knowledge and artistic talent including but not limited to color combinations, growing patterns, shade,...

Awsome!

I have just discovered the Pc concept and I want to 1) implement it into my yard 2)start a volunteer network of gardeners that would help others get into gardening and 3)get certified and do sustainable garden plans specializing in urban gardening.
I am looking for someone who can help/volunteer with site design for small urban backyard gardens. You would be able to take pictures of the project to promote your business. You sound like you are pretty well established, so you may not be interested in this. Would you be interested in being a resourse for me/us as I try to get a volunte

  • Avatar Ml Rochin Best Lotus to grow for small water garden?
Oct 12, 2011 by Ml Rochin | Posted in Garden & Landscape

I am designing a water garden for spring and desperately want to grow Lotus. What type is easiest to grow, will tolerate Texas heat and is suitable for a small water garden ,about 100 gallons. We will be using a rubber cow trough because they are light weight and very affordable. Please recommend a good small variety that is hardy and recommend water garden or sites where I can buy them . I am not opposed to growing them by seed .

    • Any lotus will totally swallow and fill, and climb out of a pond that tiny. They need lots more room than that.

Since there isn't any really that will fit well, then just pick one. You'll find out for yourself.
